FAQ: Seize the Bean - A Light-Hearted Deck Builder about Berlin!

How many customer groups are included in the base game?

There are 10 customer groups (each with their own 10 customer cards, 5 product cards, 5 upgrade cards and a matching customer award token) included in the base game. On top of that are all of the customer groups unlocked at each stretch goal (a total of 13). THere are also three possible promo packs, 2 of which are already unlocked and add in 2 more customer groups (to a total of 25) We’ll do our best to get the campaign page updated as soon as we can to visually depict all of the contents.

What are the differences between the Kickstarter and retail versions of the game?

None. We believe that making a Kickstarter-exclusive version of the game isn’t in everyone’s best interest. If we are going to thank our wonderful backers it will be through the offering of Kickstarter exclusives which come free of charge (please see the next FAQ for more info on this topic).

Are there going to be Kickstarter exclusive items?

Our stance at Quality Beast is that backers should be honored and thanked for their early support but not at the cost of alienating other gamers. This means we think that all Kickstarter items should be made available after the campaign, but at a cost, while backers should receive these items free of charge, as a way of saying “thank you for backing”. We believe that such items should enhance the experience aesthetically but not extend the gameplay itself. Examples of such items could be score pads, play mats, or alternative components, to name a few. We also strongly believe that these items should not be added at the expense of the game itself, and so that is why our stretch goals have focused mainly on improving the gameplay first, before adding in any extra, KS exclusive content or goodies.

Is there going to be a solo mode added to the game?

Yes! We are happy to announce that we’ve reached a point of satisfaction and can safely say there is a solo mode included in the base game.

Is the shop board art final? / Will you add in unique shop boards?

No, the shop board art is not final. Not only are we currently unsatisfied with the way the café awards and hype tokens work (too fidgety for our tastes) but we’re also planning to put more complete art on the shop board. We also intend to provide at least 4 shop boards so each player has their own unique one.

Many people have suggested that we put real café names on these boards or perhaps even get in touch with Berlin-based cafés. This is actually the first thing we did when designing the game early on. As noted on the “Partners” section at the bottom of our campaign page, we are proud to say we are already confirmed partners with Concierge, Bonanza, Blaue Bohnen, St. Oberholz and Coffee Pirates, all of which are Berlin-based except the last which is based in Essen. We are still working out the details with these shops but in general they have all said they are happy to be featured in the game.

Will there be an Essen SPIEL Pick-up option?

We’re aiming to offer this but can’t 100% confirm it yet. As we come closer to the end of the campaign and we know the true contents of the box we’ll be much better able to share a production timeline, including the viability of Essen pick-up or not.

Will discounted shipping be provided for bulk orders of the game?

If you are ordering multiple copies for a gaming group in your area we are happy to ship all your games together. Please increase your pledge to cover the amount of games you would like (€39 per extra copy) and we’ll settle the shipping afterwards in our pledge manager.

What level do I have to back in order to gain access to the pledge manager?

We have been told by our pledge manager partners that any and all levels (even the non-reward levels) will receive access to the pledge manager. Everyone will be able to upgrade their pledge level there as well.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
